MC

Yeap. I'm on 2 days MC. Kinda nice to be on MC and sleep. But i can't sleep much. MIL says not to sleep too much and Ww says to sleep as much as i can. now should i sleep somemore or not?

Yesterday my ILs finally found the thermometer, not the usual put-in-the-mouth kind (they suspect Ww's nephews hav taken it to play and misplaced it somewhere), but those put-in-the-ear kind. Took my temperature which was like 39.5 degrees. At first we thought that there's something wrong with the thermometer. are we supposed to deduct some amount coz it may not be accurate? anyway after taking it more than once, we kinda guessed it's kinda true...so my temperature was that high. :S after deliberating for quite a while (i thot i could go zz and see the doc the next day but i was kinda burning), we finally went to see a doc, just in case the fever fries my brain. the one near our place is no longer 24hrs (my MIL said they got robbed b4 that's why it's no longer 24hrs)...so we went to the one at Bedok instead.

I was checking out how much consultation fees are for after midnight..coz by the time we were there it was just a little past 12mn. anyway there were so much meds! when the lady placed all the meds on the table i was thinking...cham4 liao3....it's gonna be expensive. one for cough, 3 for high fever (2 of them is some pain killer and anti-gastric pain pills to be taken togthr), 1 for phlegm, one anti-biotics..and yes it is expensive. $74!! other than the late night charges which is extra $5 i think the ex part is the meds. sigh...count me inexperienced in seeing the doctor, which i only do so once in 2 years...and here i am..sick!

interestingly my tuition today got changed to tmr coz my student has extra classes today. thank God! but i'm still gonna pop by Ww's colleague housewarming later...to see their house.

oh talking about our new place...we've seen fridges, considered hood hobs, tvs, bedframes etc etc. but we haven't got any. even tho i mentioned that we went to look for tvs last week, we didn't get it in the end. $3k is quite a big sum to spend...we thot we'll wait and see. according to Ww's friend, because of the world cup season, tv supplies are increased to encourage ppl to buy tvs and to meet the demand, but after that there will be surplus and the stores will be trying to sell it off at a lower price...plus when new models come out nearer to the end of the year, the older ones will be cheaper. interesting theory...which gives us good reason to not buy yet. more about our applicance and furniture shopping another time...

Sick :S

Getting a sore throat is ok, or a cough is also ok. what's not ok is the fever and the headache that comes with it. After rolling around in bed for an hour with a cold towel, popped 2 panadol extra, i kinda feel better. my colleague gave me some power thingy for cough..she says it's v.effective..so mayb i'll try tonight. (haa...sounds like some drug...anyway it's those u find at the chinese medicine halls) i'm just prespiring a lil now...so this must be a good sign. cancelled tuition later, taking leave from mm as well. i hate being sick.

can't sleep anymore. but i think there's something about staying home that makes one feel better. rest.

so is it the stress or the weather? even my tuition student's chinchilla was suffering frm heat stroke...poor thing, it was lying on its side almost motionless so my student had to put a cold pack beside it to cool it down.

learning lots at work, technical stuff...sales stuff, design stuff...there's so much to learn! yeah sometimes frustrating...but like wat my mentor says, it's ok to make mistakes, just as long as you learn from it and don't make the same mistake again. thank God for a good mentor...this was what i couldn't find in my prev co.

got lots of newspapers to catch up with....Ww subscribed to newspapers which keeps us really busy catching up with reading it

How weird.

I discovered the relief of being thankful.
Just when i think this is really really terrible...in what i do, things can go wrong...and when they do, they really do go wrong. it's frustrating, it's stressful and all i want is to solve it as quickly as possible...at least until it's like resolved, i don't feel so safe. but time is a factor i sometimes have to fight against. then again, as i prayed and asked God to help me thru this situation, i started to give thanks. and a whole like wave of relief came over me. i'm thankful that things didn't get worse than what it is, i'm thankful i had people to 'save' me and help me, i'm thankful for my wonderful hubby who doesn't fail to make me happy and make me laugh (even just seeing him is such a joy..and so i don't keep thinking about it), i'm thankful that we did find a solution to the problem...meanwhile i just hope the thing can hold up till monday, till the problem gets resolved and nothing happens in the process of it...and the solution works.

still it's an exciting weekend. many things to be excited about. probably buying a new tv....plasma tv....42"? dinner with my jc friends...ww's parents coming to church...and just a sunday to rest

On days like these

Sometimes i wonder if i'm too nice...i wonder what's that breaking point that will make me angry...angry enough to scold the person. today i wanted to be angry, but i couldn't. i sympathized instead. it's juz a 'too-bad' situation...sway loh...see what happens when you're not careful. and too bad the other party isn't too forgiving...and wanted compensation. so what now? anyway it's my problem to settle...so mafan. just when you think things will go ok, they just go wrong. really running 2 projects at a go is starting to be of a challenge.

and...last saturday, i attended a friend's wedding, actually both are my aki classmates, the bride was my dg-mate. the wedding was a beautiful one. and i find every church wedding so filled with joy, so meaningful...weirdly, i secretly wished and prayed that God will draw my sis to Him so that on the day she gets married, it's not at a soka association but in a church, in God's house...somehow it's the best place because God is the one who created marriage, buddha didn't come up with the idea of marriage, of cos not the earth god. whell...where best have it in the house of God, in the midst of his people...and me who went there also felt so much joy for them. so exciting! may their marriage be a light to the people around them and a glory to our Lord above.

Raaaiinny blabbers

Rainy mornings are fantastic...as long as i stay home. which i am doing now.
there's so much tuitions this week i keep having to refer to my organizer otherwise i forget, then still gotta run 2 sites, do my paperwork which is piling up in a matter of days plus the mess i'm piling up in the study room.

my peace is now...this window of time till my tuition at 12pm. argh....so late. 2 1/2hrs to do something productive. my piling work is bugging me. so i seem to not be able to blog in peace.

last week we spent a morning..early early morning to go for a long trek at Macritchie. left home at like 6am and started at 7am till 11am. walked part of the reservoir, up some nature trail to the HSBC tree top walk which was really short, and to a even longer trail at Rifle range. we were super bished out after that...and ww and i went off to orchard to send his watch to be fixed while meimei went home earlier coz she had cip. of course a refreshing White Chocolate Dream at coffee bean much later energized us...we think it's the sugar rush. so tiring anyway but quite fun.

tink i betta get bac to my work and stuff liao...have much to say but not today.

Elizabeth Town

We watched this movie last night, after a nice homemade dinner with mum & mei...and after we showed mum & mei our new house, and after Ww fixed that lousy ikea table drawer which fell apart. We weren't expecting much from the movie but it was a beautiful one, witty taglines, and romantic setting. We loved it so much i thot i buy the soundtrack. Music dominates this movie and the scenes are beautiful in a sense that it strikes a chord in your heart, some moment you can identify with. as someone commented "How many times do we think back to a particular moment, and all we remember is the person, the relationship, and the music tied to that moment? A song can take you to a precise moment in your life. He made that connection to all of us, through the life of one fictional character."
we remembered how long long ago, like the characters in the movie, we would have endless stuff to say over the phone and would stay up super late, just talking on the phone. tho we don't have any special music moment thru our dating times...just some weird hilarious stuff Ww would say to make me laugh...like the "Aammmaaazzzingg" from some insect cartoon movie Bug's life, i think. and he would say it at almost everything...and that would run for a few weeks of my irritation. oh and the "You're beautiful" tune phrase frm the song by james blunt he would occassionally blurt out...that has already run for like more than half a year liao. i think i will hear it around for quite a while...esp after he saw a blooper video mtv adaptation called "It's bloody cold"...how interesting.

new week! i'm studying history...world b4 WW2, during WW2 and after WW2....coz i'm asked to help my student with her history on top of teaching her social studies. aiee...and i've never studied o'levels history. great. but it should be easier than studying histroy in uni...ploughing thru libaries of books ya? but oh whell...it's kinda interesting anyway.

Aftermath

After camp...
camp is getting more and more distant. it feels different when you're a camper, and it feels different when u're a committee member, different when you're full-time prayer warrior, different when you're a grp leader, different when you're just in mm & helping out in program. all different. maybe because i was less involved. but stcamp has always been a special time of the year; the memories, the battles fought that was won or lost, the lessons learnt, the amazing works of God, the successes and failures, the friends made or not made, the new skills learnt and refined and of course, the new lives redeemed.

will it one day become no longer be effective in fulfilling its purpose of reaching out to the lost? there are better resources, better means? i dunno. God knows. many of them come for the games, even tho they know they'll hear ppl talking to them about God. and somehow God blessed us with very creative and humourous ppl around...even tho each game event has many learning points to learn from but you don't get better than this outside. so do they really just come for the games? even after 4 years? is there something more?

anyway i'm trying to take some rest. coz it's been a jam packed week. why am i so busy?? 2 weddings these saturdays. and messy tuition timings. and with my other pianst taking a long break, i dunno how i can handle playing every week without a new pianst coming in. (i could don't play everyweek la...) but is it too late to pray for one now? it wasn't something we didn't know will happen. these are the times i feel stretched and feel like i wanna take a break too! (maybe it's playing piano too much during the camp and this week and the next and the next and the next, then playing at the wedding, and the thought of playing every week) it's scary. :S because it's so easy to be calculative about how many times i play (how ironic...it's getting unplayful now), and it's so easy to fall into the trap of obligation instead of serving. the line is fine.

on a lighter note...Ww and me went to Cream Bistro for dinner coz Ww was having course somewhere around orchard..and we have this 1-for-1 discount thingy. oh..my Seared Ginger Cod fish was yummy...and i felt cold so i drank hot choc but Ww drank ice-cream iced coffee..so unlike him (coz he always orders hot coffee) Food is such comfort food. who isn't happy eating?

i'm looking forward to our outing next wed....we booked each other's 24hrs of wed, it's like taking a holiday in singapore...we'll go somewhere..in singapore. you'll know then. it's been a long time since we've done such stuff liao.
we're finding ourselves in a stage of life where ppl around us are getting married and are just like going through this stage...and so many ppl in my office getting married this year (3 leh...enough to break record). what's with 2006? ha...
